Leah’s Manifesto

I dance to retaliate.

I dance to rebel against our sedentary culture and entrained complacencies.

I dance to reclaim the physical intelligence that Western Philosophy condemned by hierarchicalizing the mind.

I dance for awareness and presence.

I dance because our awareness and presence threaten the status quo.

I dance to be acutely aware of myself in the flesh, not the image I am conditioned to craft myself into.

I dance to experience when so much experience has been outsourced to the virtual.

I dance to reclaim my body from capitalist standards that propagate shame for profit.

I dance for empathy, compassion, and alliance in humanity, and with the natural world.

I dance to embody honesty, integrity, and an orientation to process.

I dance as a mode of self-inquiry and curiosity in a time of mass consumerism and self-criticism.

I dance to stay personally engaged in a time of societal distraction.

I dance to be free.
